When was the time
our place reassigned,
extinction defined,
the planets aligned?

The birds do still sing each morning
Silence would be forewarning
Whispering winds informing,
shake us from our ignoring

Was there a day
you all learned to pray,
you knew what to say?
I just sit and crochet

No more pretending all is well
Crawling back into your shell
Hiding wherever you may dwell
Riding the hunt from a carousel

Just sleep tight
Tomorrow comes to quickly
Purge at day’s light
Sorrow cloaks the sickly

What was the plan?
Let worms from a can?
Back where they began?
Thrown away

Run… Escape from the sun
Shadows protect no one
Hide and seek once fun is now a game of
cat and mouse and monster

Come…Your ticket to the joke
demands that you be woke
and lands a solid poke in the conscious eye of
witnesses and watchers

I stand on ceremony,
sit in judgment,
lie in wait...

Where was the place,
we tripped in the race,
and all fell from grace?
Rewind and erase

The flowers will bloom each spring
Vines will entwine all things
That which is left standing,
sun falls on as it’s rising

Who walked away
unscathed, unafraid?
The piper unpaid?
Which one of you stayed?

Waking requires belief
Faking inspires relief
Chronically dire is your grief
Time runs like a liar and a thief

Just hang tight
Each week is but a day long
Scourge and blight
Surcease for those who stay strong

Why won’t we trust?
Not all is unjust
Filled with disgust… I walk away
